The Intelligent Systems & Automation Lab spans 760 square feet of lab space in
Learned Hall, University of Kansas, Lawrence KS. This space is dedicated for student
office space and mechatronic research experimentation testbeds. For circuit development of
mechatronic systems, two electronic workbenches are available with grounded worktops.
There is a compressed air line running into the lab to allow for the development of
pneumatic systems.
Machine Shop
Mechanical Engineering students have access to a fully-equipped machine shop. The shop
has dedicated experienced personnel to train new researchers to build almost anything.
The machine shop is equipped with multiple end mills and turning lathes. The machine shop
also has a 4-axis Fadal CNC mill, CNC table router and a welding station to aid in the
fabrication process. The welding station has a mig, tig and acetylene welder available
for use. A safety class is required before operating any equipment in the machine shop.
